SEALSKINZ ATHLETES TURN
IN ANOTHER TOP TEN FINISH IN
FIRST ARMED FORCES ECO-CHALLENGE
Maiya Kraus and Team Wild Blue Adventure Racing
Battle Alaskan Wilderness for Eighth Place in Historic Race
(DUARTE, Calif) July 10, 2001 The first Armed
Forces Eco-Challenge was a four day, 250-mile non-stop, unassisted
odyssey across the massive glaciers, frozen tundra and snowy conditions
of the Alaskan wilderness. Team Wild Blue Adventure Racing, led
by SealSkinz enthusiast Maiya Kraus, tested the waterproof protection
and comfort of their SealSkinz Waterpoof Socks and Gloves with a
top ten finish.
"We are so pleased to see Maiya's team come through with flying
colors through some cold, wet and inhospitable terrain," said Cole
Williams, president and founder of Danalco, manufacturer of SealSkinz
Waterproof Socks and Gloves. "Their finish is another validation
of just how rugged and well-performing our products are in the most
demanding environments."
"It was such an incredible experience," said Kraus, a bioenvironmental
engineer and former U.S. Air Force survival-training instructor.
"We had beautiful weather and the country is gorgeous, but the days
and nights were so long. SealSkinz helped a lot."
Beginning in remote Alaska, Maiya Kraus and her team of Air Force
personnel competed along with 21 other highly trained, four-person
teams from all four branches of the military in a rigorous competition
of strength and skill. Navigating through rock, ice and snow, canoeing,
mountain biking and orienteering the rugged Alaskan terrain, Kraus
and her team finished eighth, while six teams were disqualified
due to injuries sustained on the rigorous course.
"SealSkinz saved us out there," Kraus added. "Our feet were constantly
in water from stream and river crossings, snow, and marshes. My
feet were in great shape the whole race. No blisters or hot spots
after almost four days on the course."
The competition benefited the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
(TAPS), which was chosen out of 250 applicants to hold the first
ever Eco-Challenge, franchised race. TAPS is America's only non-profit
national program dedicated to providing support to families who
have recently lost a loved one while serving in the armed forces.

SEALSKINZ ANNOUNCES
CO-SPONSORSHIP OF
TEAM PEARL IZUMI / SEALSKINZ
World-Class Team Led by Rebecca Rusch to Compete
in
Adventure Racing World Championships
(DUARTE, Calif) July 9, 2001 In another move
broadening its growing appeal as the waterproof protection of choice
for outdoor sports, SealSkinz Waterproof Socks and Gloves today
announced its co-sponsorship of a world-class team of athletes led
by champion adventure racer Rebecca Rusch for the upcoming Discovery
Channel World Championship Adventure Race.
The newly dubbed Team Pearl Izumi / SealSkinz recently qualified
for the championship race with a first-place finish at the qualifying
Appalachian Extreme Adventure Race in May of 2001. This is SealSkinz'
first team title sponsorship in adventure racing.
"We are extremely excited about strengthening our relationship
with an athlete of Rebecca's caliber in what will arguably be one
of the world's most physically and mentally challenging sporting
events this year," said Cole Williams, president and founder of
Danalco. "SealSkinz has been a bedrock gear choice for outdoors
and adventure racing enthusiasts. We believe this move will only
deepen our standing as the premier gear choice for waterproof protection
and comfort."
"I'm really excited about this partnership," said Rusch, Team
Pearl Izumi / SealSkinz captain. "SealSkinz has been an important
piece of gear for me for years and being part of their first team
makes me very happy."
The Discovery Channel World Championship Adventure Race, the first
race to offer a World Champion title to an adventure racing team,
will be held in September 2001 in Switzerland. Teams are selected
by performance any of the seven designated AR World Series events
or by meeting the high qualifying criteria.
"I'm feeling great about the team," Rusch said. "We've made a big
commitment to this race and will be training together this summer.
We know the competition in Switzerland will be super-tight, so we're
going to make sure we're as ready as we can possibly be."
The accomplished team will bring more than their dominating Appalachian
Extreme victory to Switzerland. Rusch finished fourth in the 1999
Eco-Challenge with a predominantly women's team and seventh in the
2000 Eco-Challenge. That team included Patrick Harper, an Alaskan
river guide, who will be one of two navigators on Team Pearl Izumi
/ SealSkinz.
Harper and Rusch also placed seventh in the 2000 Raid Galoises,
the highest placing in the history of the race for an All-American
team. Harper and Rusch are also members of the national champion
men and women's rafting teams, respectively.
Bill Mattison, the team's other navigator, has a white water career
spanning 30 years. In 1998, he was part of the first American team
to win an Eco-Challenge. He is Head Boatman of "Timberline Tours
International Whitewater" and is currently Foreman and Avalanche
Director of the Vail Ski Patrol.
The team will be training together this summer in
Vail, CO. With the sport's explosive growth over the last few years
and ensuing media interest with extreme and adventure racing, SealSkinz
has become a staple of the adventure racing community. According
to the United States Adventure Racing Association (USARA), the number
of adventure races in the United States grew from 80 to almost 200
in the year 2000 alone. Bolstered by increased sales and media attention,
SealSkinz elected to move beyond its traditional gear sponsorship
and take a title sponsorship with a world-class team this year.

SEALSKINZ ON TOP IN
THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS
SealSkinz Co-Sponsored Appalachian Extreme Adventure
Race Finishes in
Western North Carolina
(DUARTE, Calif)
May 24, 2001
In just 39 hours, a team led by world-class adventure racer Rebecca
Rusch crossed the finish line at the Appalachian Extreme Adventure
Race, ending one of the key qualifying races for this year’s Discovery
Channel World Championships and marks the second adventure race
sponsored by Danalco, manufacturer of SealSkinz®
Waterproof Socks and Gloves.
"This was an exciting event and we are proud to sponsor it
as we work to further elevate and deepen the SealSkinz brand through
these world-class races and athletes," said Cole Williams,
founder and president of Danalco. "Growth in the SealSkinz
brand has been spectacular and we are being more aggressive in placing
it in the forefront of adventure racing and other outdoor events
such as hunting and fishing. We are eager to consistently demonstrate
SealSkinz’s durability, versatility and performance."
The Appalachian Extreme Adventure Race marks the second adventure
race sponsored by SealSkinz, the first being the Beast of the East
last month. SealSkinz has long been considered an essential piece
of gear for adventure racers in helping to protect against wetness
and blisters.
The Appalachian Extreme Adventure Race is one of six races serving
as qualifying races for the Discovery Channel World Championships,
which will be held in Switzerland this year. The other races include
the recently completed Beast of the East, Raid the North Extreme,
which is the final U.S. qualifying race, followed by Hi Tec Adventure
Quest in South Africa, EMA in Brazil, and the formidable Southern
Traverse in New Zealand.
These races will test world-class athletes as they push them to
the extreme limits of endurance, pain and mental toughness. SealSkinz
Waterproof Socks and Gloves have proven equal to the challenge of
the increasingly popular adventure-racing format according to Williams.
"SealSkinz have been the ideal choice for foot and hand protection
for athletes, outdoor enthusiasts and the British military. SealSkinz
users have also increasingly included more diverse users such as
golfers, bicyclists, law enforcement and industrial safety personnel,"
Williams added.
The Rebecca Rusch-led Team Pearl Izumi, which finished first, was
awarded a free entry to the 2001 Discovery Channel World Championships
for their Appalachian Extreme victory. Following her win, Danalco
pledged to join as co-sponsor of her team which will now be known
compete as Team Pearl Izumi / SealSkinz in the World Championships.
"I’ve been wearing SealSkinz religiously for two three years
and their support for our team in the World Championships means
a lot to me," Rusch said. "I’m very happy to be racing
under the Team Pearl Izumi / SealSkinz banner."

ADVENTURE ATHLETES CONQUER THE BEAST OF THE EAST
IN SEALSKINZ®, WATERPROOF SOCKS AND GLOVES
SealSkinz Waterproof Socks and Gloves
Odyssey Adventure Racing and SealSkinz Continue Unbeatable Partnership
April 25, 2001 After nearly four days of hiking and
biking rugged Civil War trails, swimming and paddling the New River
and trekking the Allegheny Mountains, Tracyn Thayer and Norm Greenberg
of Team RacingAhead.com crossed the Beast of the East finish line
first, followed by Team Subaru Outback; both teams were wearing
SealSkinz waterproof gear.
"SealSkinz once again proved to be a key piece of gear for us,"
said Thayer of her third-consecutive first-place Beast finish. "It
rained throughout an entire biking section, and we had multiple
stream crossings. Not only did they keep our feet dry, but they
worked as great wind-barriers for the fast paved sections at night."
"This was a great race for SealSkinz to showcase its unparalleled
abilities," said Cole Williams, founder and president of Danalco.
"The cool, wet conditions of southwestern Virginia in the early
spring combined with the unforgiving course made SealSkinz and the
Beast of the East a natural partnership. We really couldn't ask
for a better field test."
SealSkinz was a co-sponsor for the third running of the race and
provided six elite teams with gear. Other teams wearing SealSkinz
included: Team Navy, Team Cal-Eco, Team Adventure Sports Outfitters
and Team Peak.
According to race director and avid SealSkinz wearer Don Mann,
this year's course was "longer, hillier, and more difficult" than
previous years. Odyssey's Beast of the East is one of the United
States' oldest and most prestigious races and was chosen this year
as a qualifier for the Discovery Channel World Championships and
the USARA National Championships.
"We wore SealSkinz on the last major hike, when we were soaked
from a 400-foot river crossing," Thayer added. "We had to take everything
off everything, even our clothes, and just wore our shoes without
the insoles. On the other side, we put our SealSkinz back into our
soaking shoes and benefited from dry feet and stayed almost 100
percent blister free, despite our brisk pace and wet shoes. SealSkinz
definitely had me hooked."
SealSkinz’ patented design features a Moisture Vapor Transpiration
(MVT) membrane. This unique construction ensures complete dryness
as perspiration escapes through the membrane while water is prevented

SIXTEEN WORLD-CLASS ATHLETES USE SEALSKINZ
TO TACKLE THE "BEAST OF THE EAST"
SealSkinz Waterproof Socks and Gloves
Co-Sponsors Third Annual Adventure Race
April 10, 2001 In the rugged hills of southwestern
Virginia today, five teams of world-class athletes will tackle "The
Beast of the East," one the oldest, toughest and most prestigious
adventure races in the country, where they will canoe, rappel, bike,
and climb their way across 350 miles of difficult and unforgiving
terrain in just five days. Each of them will be armed with SealSkinz
Waterproof Socks as their best defense against blisters and water-logged
feet.
Calling it one of the top venues to demonstrate SealSkinz' toughness,
Danalco, manufacturer of SealSkinz, agreed to co-sponsor this year's
Beast of the East and provide winning teams with SealSkinz gear.
"The Beast of the East is clearly one of the premier adventure
racing events around and we are excited to not only be a sponsor,
but also equip five very talented and experienced teams," said Cole
Williams, founder and president of Danalco. "This race will give
us a prime venue to showcase the enormous advantages SealSkinz has
in providing waterproof protection, comfort and durability."
The Beast includes paddling, trekking, biking, climbing and orienteering
in the remote and beautiful southwestern corner of Virginia. Participants
will whitewater raft across the New River, climb and rappel miles
of Allegheny Mountain trails resulting in elevation differences
of 40,000 feet, and hike historic Civil War roads.
"We spent five days and nights wading through glacial rivers and
hiking on slushy snowfields with soaking wet boots," said Norm Greenberg,
a SealSkinz user in last November's 2000 Southern Traverse race
in New Zealand. "I was repeatedly amazed to pull off my SealSkinz
and find my feet dry and no blisters. I'm convinced they are the
best thing for when your feet are repeatedly getting wet."
Norm and his wife, Tracyn Thayer, were part of a four-man team
that won the Beast in 1999 and now return as the team of Racing
Ahead in today's race and are one of the teams using SealSkinz gear.
Other teams wearing SealSkinz include: Team Peak, Cal-Eco, Subaru
Outback, Team Adventure Sports Outfitters and a team of U.S. Navy
SEALS led by Lt. Commander Dirk MacFarlane, a SealSkinz sponsored
athlete.
"SealSkinz has enjoyed a long relationship with the race¹s promoters
in Odyssey Adventure Racing. We have a great deal of respect for
the event and the quality of competition making SealSkinz and the
Beast a natural partnership," Williams added.
Odyssey Adventure Racing, organizer of The Beast, which was Odyssey¹s
original adventure race and one of the country¹s first, is staging
this year's race as a qualifying event for the Discovery Channel
World Championship Adventure Race to be held in Switzerland in September
and the 2001 United States Adventure Racing Association's (USARA)
National Championship Race in November in Louisiana.
The BEAST of the EAST was Odyssey's first foray into the sports
promotion business in 1998, and the company has since produced more
multi-sport events than any other organization in the country. In
just five years since its founding, OAR has produced more multi-sport
events than any other company in the world. For more information,

TEAM ADVENTURE TAKES SEALSKINZ® AROUND THE
WORLD IN 83 DAYS
World Class Yacht Racing Team Finds
SealSkinz Crucial In Circumnavigation of Globe
April 2, 2001 Team Adventure's first sailing campaign
came to a close as it completed "The Race," a grueling circumnavigation
of the globe, in only 83 days, docking at the port of Marseilles
on the morning of March 24. Crewmembers credited SealSkinz³ Waterproof
Socks and Gloves as a key factor in protecting them from the rough
winds, angry seas and torrential rains of the Southern Atlantic.
"The Southern Ocean is a vast, cold, lonely part of the planet
and we experienced some of the worst weather of our circumnavigation.
With the constant wet conditions and relentless battering from the
weather you start to crave small comforts and we were grateful for
the warmth and comfort provided by our SealSkinz socks and gloves,"
said Cam Lewis, skipper of Team Adventure. "We used them every day
and were very pleased with the way they kept us warm and dry."
"It's exciting for us to be involved with such a dynamic team with
so much heart," said Cole Williams, founder and president of Danalco,
manufacturer of SealSkinz. "We could hardly ask for a better field
test than Team Adventure gave SealSkinz during this tough contest.
The products were used for long periods of time in drastically different
waters and harsh environments. Their satisfaction is testimony to
the durability and comfort of our products."
The relieved, but exuberant team arrived in third place and was
greeted by nearly 100,000 fans, media, family and well-wishers.
Team members held up flares to signify the realization of their
dream. Team Adventure had covered 29,773 miles, at an average speed
of almost 15 knots, and circled the globe in 82 days, 20 hours,
21 minutes and 2 seconds.
Team Adventure, dubbed "The Dream Team" by the French media, overcame
epic struggles to reach Marseilles. After leading for the first
few thousand miles, they were confronted with brutal weather just
as they were overhauling the first-placed boat Then, on January
18th, the boat crashed into a series of waves in the Southern Atlantic.
Team Adventure¹s catamaran, which had been traveling at 30 knots,
came to a sudden halt. Two crewmembers were injured and the main
beam was in desperate need of repair. Lewis had no choice but to
set sail for Cape Town, South Africa, 1,100 miles away.
Team Adventure left Cape Town on January 26th, leaving behind two
injured crewmembers. Two other crew chose not to continue. At a
second stop in Wellington, New Zealand for more repairs, another
crewman was forced by injuries to leave the boat. After losing more
than two weeks, Lewis and his now nine-man crew were able to mount
a comeback and reach Marseilles in third place.
Team Adventure isn¹t ready for a vacation yet. Lewis has already
begun recruiting an entirely new team to trace Columbus' route,
from Cadiz, Spain to San Salvador in the Bahamas, before continuing
to the United States. Lewis and his new team will set sail on April
5th, joined by two classroom teachers who will give daily classroom
lessons over the Internet.
The team will stop in Savannah, Georgia for a refit before making
an attempt in June on the transatlantic record from Sandy Hook Light
at the mouth of New York Harbor, to the Lizard Lighthouse at the
mouth of the English Channel. SealSkinz will be a part of these
journeys.
"I don't want to leave port without them," Lewis said, "Both the
socks and gloves are terrific allowing sweat to escape without letting
water penetrate. When so much warmth is lost through your extremities
it is a treat to have warm feet and hands while chasing a record."
SealSkinz’ patented design features a Moisture Vapor Transpiration
(MVT) membrane. This unique construction ensures complete dryness

SEALSKINZ® WATERPROOF SOCKS GIVE A LEG UP
TO TOP IDITASPORT ATHLETES
SealSkinz® Keep Elite Athletes Warm and Dry
During Grueling Iditarod Trail Race
March 26, 2001 A winter storm, endless snow drifts,
and disappearing trails may sound like an icy death to most of us,
but they were all in a day's work for 125 intrepid athletes who
tackled this year's Iditasport races along the famed Iditarod trail
in 130, 350 and 1,100 mile distances on foot, bikes and skis.
Beginning on February 24th in Knik, Alaska, these adventurers faced
the rugged terrain and the nagging deadlines armed only with their
skill, stamina and winter gear. This year, many of the top athletes
choose SealSkinz® Waterproof Socks to get them through to the
finish.
"I feel they definitely were a factor in my performance," said
Andrew Matulionis, who finished second among those competing on
foot in the 130-mile course. "Keeping your feet in good shape and
keeping them warm are keys to being successful. If something happens
to your feet, the race is over. There was so much snow and everything
was drenched, but SealSkinz® kept my feet warm and dry for
long periods of time. When I reached some knee-deep water, I thought
I was doomed but my feet stayed warm and did not get waterlogged
which could potentially spell disaster in those conditions."
This year's Iditasport became particularly grueling when two feet
of snow fell in the first two days. The trail began to disappear
and visibility was difficult, slowing the race to a crawl. To make
matters worse, the temperature dropped from a cold 20 degrees Fahrenheit
to a bone-chilling -20 degrees below zero.
"Plodding through the snow for days made it imperative that our
feet remained dry and somewhat warm, and the SealSkinz® were
great in this environment. With one pair of running socks and the
SealSkinz®, my feet were warm and relatively dry the entire
time. I would recommend SealSkinz® to anybody training or competing
under adverse conditions particularly when the course is wet and
cold," said Bob Faulkner, who braved the 350-mile course of the
Iditasport Extreme.
Dianette Strange, who placed second among female foot racers in
the 130-mile course was also thrilled with SealSkinz' performance.
"Everyone in the race wanted to know what was keeping my feet so
dry and where they could get some. My feet were never wet and they
stayed warm, too. You depend heavily on your gear in these types
of races. SealSkinz® really came through for me."
Other athletes wearing SealSkinz® in the 2001 Iditasport included
American Alicja Barahona, who finished first among women on foot
in the Iditasport-130, Canadian biker Bill Shand, who finished in
the top ten overall of the Iditasport Extreme, and America's Team
Peak.
"The other amazing thing is that my feet were in the best shape
ever!" added Matulionis, "The socks did not bunch up and there were
no seams to cause any problems. It's amazing that you can go through
such conditions for so long with only running shoes. The combination
of the socks with a liner made it almost like you were wearing a
winter boot, but without the weight."
SealSkinz® patented design features a Moisture Vapor Transpiration
(MVT) membrane. This unique construction ensures complete dryness
as perspiration escapes through the membrane while water is prevented
from entering. Their stretch-to-fit, seamless design helps to forestall
blisters and chafing even after hours of the harshest activities

SEALSKINZ® CONQUER
THE RUSHING RAPIDS AND SLUSHY SNOWFIELDS
OF NEW ZEALAND
Adventure Athletes' Testimonials
December 28, 2000 In November, SealSkinz proudly sponsored
every All-American team in The Discovery Channel Adventure Race-
A Southern Traverse Partnership. The Southern Traverse has a perennially
devastating course, but the high altitudes, long glacier treks,
and rigorous bike trails (with bike carrying!!) were particularly
severe this year. SealSkinz emerged victorious from the challenge
of providing state-of-the-art waterproof gear to nine American teams
who hiked, glacier trekked, abseiled, kayaked, and biked through
the brutal elements of New Zealand.
SealSkinz would like to offer congratulations to each of our nine
teams: Wigwam, Explorer, NOC, Seagate, Intrepid, Boundary Quest,
Evolution, and Jeanne. Here are some of their comments.
E.J. Harpham of Team Wigwam was a first-time adventure racer and
SealSkinz wearer. "We forded waist-deep glacier runoffs going up
a canyon. Going back and forth and every time, my feet were warm
and toasty. I know we saved a lot of time compared to the other
teams because we didn't have to be picky about our stream crossings,
didn't have to change socks, and didn't get blisters. Then, we were
up on glaciers and snow and (my) feet were still warm and dry. For
425 K's we hiked, biked and kayaked and my feet were HAPPY. That
is not a concept I am familiar with. Anyway, for Christmas, I am
getting everyone on my list a pair and know they will be thrilled
too."
Wigwam Captain Cathy Sassin www.intrafit.com
is a world-class adventure racer and a foot care expert. In a recent
interview with eyada.com,
Cathy had this advice for fellow racers "ŠOnce you're in the race
and your feet are constantly wet, nothing helps other than the constant
maintenance you're doing throughout the race like the Wigwam (liners)
and the SealSkinz Socks and the Leki poles and just doing what you
can to maintain the integrity if the skin on your feet." For Cathy¹s
Complete Foot-Care Tips, click here: Foot-Care
Tips.
Team Wigwam had a loyal fan and diligent team assistant in teammate
Rebecca Rush's mother, Judy Rusch. She was also sporting a pair
of SealSkinz. "By the way, 'Wigwam Mom' had a pair of SealSkinz
on for most of the time and I couldn't have managed without them.
While I wasn't racing, standing around for hours at night in the
windy, cold and damp weather they kept my feet toasty and dry while
I waited for the team." For more information about Rebecca Rusch,
visit www.rebeccarusch.com.
Team Explorer had a fantastic run of the devastating course and
team captain Will Burkhart gives some of the credit to SealSkinz.
"SealSkinz Waterblocker Socks and All-Season Gloves were critical
gear items while kayaking, rafting and glacier travel during the
2000 Southern Traverse. They kept Team Explorer's hands and feet
warm and dry and blister-free, enhancing our ability to finish strong."
SealSkinz also sponsored Team NOC, including the dynamic husband/wife
combination of Norm Greenberg and Tracyn Thayer www.racingahead.com.
Norm was especially impressed with the performance of his SealSkinz
Waterblocker Socks, "(We) spent 5 days and nights wading through
the glacial rivers, hiking on slushy snowfields with soaking wet
boots, I was repeatedly amazed to pull of my SealSkinz and find
my feet dry and no blisters. I'm convinced they are the best thing
for when your feet are repeatedly getting wet."
Tracyn was more impressed with the gloves, "The gloves were great
for paddling as well as glacier workŠwithout leaving my hands clammy
when I was done. (The) socks were a life saver with all the river
crossings!"
This year's Southern Traverse was dubbed by its participants as
"the toughest adventure race of 2000". The rushing rapids, treacherous
glacier treks, and high altitudes were only outdone by the blizzard
that ultimately concluded the race. Most of these athletes, however,
will be back next year. We at SealSkinz can't wait to conquer the
elements all over again.

U.S. PEACEKEEPING TROOPS IN BOSNIA TO RECEIVE
SEALSKINZ® WATERPROOF SOCKS
High-Performance Waterproof Gear to Provide Holiday
Warmth to
American Soldiers in Severe Conditions
December 21, 2000 Continuing a commitment to American
service personnel serving in difficult conditions overseas, Danalco,
manufacturer of SealSkinz® Waterproof Socks and Gloves, announced
its 2nd Annual Holiday Overseas Troop Donation of durable
SealSkinz® products which will travel nearly half way around
the world before reaching U.S. personnel serving in Bosnia on peacekeeping
duty.
"At Danalco, were very happy to continue a tradition
of helping American service personnel at the holidays. To get the
best use out of the product and be the most help to our recipients,
this is the best time for a donation," said Cole Williams,
president and founder of Danalco. "We think this is the best
way for us to thank these men and women for their dedication and
service in keeping the peace."
The yearly donation began out of appreciation for military personnel
who were avid SealSkinz® wearers. Todays donation of
500 assorted pairs of SealSkinz® Waterproof Socks is being
made in the hopes of ameliorating some of the grueling environmental
conditions these military personnel face in the Balkans.
Danalco directly contacted the Defense Logistics Agency after receiving
requests for SealSkinz® from family members of U.S. service
personnel serving in the Balkans. The cold, rainy conditions of
this region are the perfect environment for SealSkinz®.
SealSkinz® high-performance waterproof socks and gloves feature
a patented Moisture Vapor Transpiration (MVT) design. Their unique
breathable inner fabric membrane wicks away perspiration from the
skin, keeping hands and feet dry from the inside and out, while
their stretch-to-fit, seamless design helps prevent blisters and
chafing even after rigorous work in intemperate conditions.
Danalco shipped 500 pairs of SealSkinz® socks from its Duarte,
California manufacturing facility to the Defense Logistics Agencys
defense distribution depot in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. From there,
DLA will ship the socks aboard U.S. military cargo aircraft to the
Balkans for distribution to U.S. service personnel on an as-needed
basis.
"SealSkinz® are already used by military personnel around
the world who depend on the comfort, dryness and performance these
products guarantee. Were delighted to help these men and women
as they have to deal with cold, mud and rain," Williams added.
Since their introduction to the market in 1993, military forces
worldwide have recognized SealSkinz® high quality and are currently
worn by such elite forces as the U.S. Navy SEALS and are standard
issue for the British Royal Marines.
Founded in 1970, Danalco designs and manufactures high-performance,

SEALSKINZ® WATERPROOF SOCKS AND GLOVES
ARE THE CHOICE FOR ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS
AT THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL ADVENTURE RACE
Sealskinz Products Are Once Again The Choice Of
Premier Extreme Athletes
November 8, 2000 On November 11th in New
Zealand and completing the third leg in adventure racing's triple
crown, The Discovery Channel Adventure Race, a Southern Traverse
partnership, kicks off competition spanning over 500 kilometers
and requiring skills such as abseiling, mountain biking, trekking,
rafting, and kayaking.
As over 600 racers, assistants, media and film crews tackle the
challenges of this grueling race, SealSkinz® announced today
it is the proud sponsor of every All-American team entered in this
historic race. SealSkinz® Waterproof Socks and Gloves are considered
by many athletes to be a significant competitive difference through
the prevention of painful foot injuries, which often force adventure
racers to drop out of competition, thereby disqualifying the entire
team.
"We are pleased to be sponsoring such an elite field of athletes
with the likes of Cathy Sassin and Rebecca Rusch in what will almost
certainly be one of the world's most grueling and daunting races,"
said Cole Williams, founder and president of Danalco, manufacturer
of SealSkinz®. "SealSkinz® are going to give these
athletes the chance to compete at their peak level without worrying
about painful blisters."
The race begins in the small Canterbury town of Menthven, New Zealand
on November 13th and will take five days to complete.
Sixty teams from around the world will attempt the course, which
is not announced until the night before the race.
The Southern Traverse has partnered with the Discovery Channel
this year, allowing this race to be billed as one of largest events
to be held in New Zealand. Footage of the race will be aired in
150 countries.
Sponsored athletes were particularly attracted to SealSkinz®
line of Waterblockerä Socks, which
feature a patented in-cuff seal to ensure dryness and preventing
water from leaking in even after being completely submerged in water.
This innovative technology is important to racers facing glaciers,
abseiling, and rushing rapids.
Cathy Sassin, of Team Wigwam/Ultimax and one of the world's premier
adventure racers, was recently named one of the top 100 female athletes
of 2000 by the Women's Sports Foundation. Cathy is also a firm believer
in the use of SealSkinz®.
"In every race, my performance hinges on comfort. I can't
risk foot problems or I risk letting down my whole team. SealSkinz®
play a big role in my peace of mind," Sassin said.
The Discovery Channel Adventure Race poses a series of dramatic
climatic and geographic changes for adventure racer. The course
ranges from steep bluffs that must be avoided at night to trekking
on hazardous glaciers, crossing swollen rivers, snow storms, and
navigating unmarked indigenous trails. The temperature will drop
as low as minus 10 degrees, waves will be as high as 4 meters, and
the wind will be as strong as 40 knots. These trials say nothing
of the four to five days of mental and physical duress inflicted
on the athlete.
Rebecca Rusch, another world class adventure athlete and Cathy's
teammate, will also be wearing SealSkinz®.
In describing her experience wearing them in this year's recent
Eco-Challenge race where her team finished 8th place
overall, she said "after wandering through the jungles of Borneo
wet and muddy for days, I expected my feet to be trashed.
The SealSkinz I was wearing kept out the leeches, bacteria and bat
guano and left my feet healthy."
Other teams wearing SealSkinz® include: Intrepid, Training
Zone, NOC, Jeanne, Seagate, Explorer, Evolution and Boundary Quest.
Perfect for rafting, hinting, hiking, fishing, skiing, snowboarding,
boating or just about any activity where hands and feet need to
stay dry, SealSkinz waterproof products first entered the outdoor
market in 1993 with the release of the original SealSkinz Waterproof
Sock. SealSkinz waterproof socks and gloves remain one of the sporting
industrys best sellers worldwide and are currently allocated
as standard issue for the British Armed Forces and have found service
with U.S. Armed Forces serving in Bosnia.
Founded in Duarte, California, Danalco designs and manufactures
high performance waterproof clothing for the recreational, outdoor,
military and athletic markets. To order new Waterblocker Socks or

SEALSKINZ® WATERPROOF SOCKS PROTECTING
ECO-CHALLENGE SABAH 2000 TEAMS IN BORNEO JUNGLES
Rugged SealSkinz Gear Choice of Many Top Adventure
Teams This Year
August
18, 2000
On Sunday, August 20, over 70 teams from around the world will converge
on the dense jungles of Borneo in Malaysia and set off on an adventure
race covering over 500 kilometers of punishing terrain pitting them
against fast rivers, stifling heat, pounding rain, crushing caverns
and daunting mountains.
For many of those teams, the difference between finishing and dropping
out from painful foot injuries will be SealSkinz® Waterproof
Socks. In this years edition of the Eco-Challenge, arguably
the worlds premier adventure race, SealSkinz® Waterproof
Socks and Gloves were selected by a number of teams for their durability,
comfort, breathability, high performance and secure waterproof seals.
Specifically, teams opted for SealSkinz® new line of WaterBlocker
Socks, which feature a revolutionary in-cuff seal ensuring a tight,
waterproof fit keeping everything out from the water and grit of
the race to more interesting would-be hitchhikers such as the prolific
number of leeches in the Borneo jungles.
The starting point of this years race is Sabah on the island
of Borneo in Malaysia where four-person teams made up of both men
and women will travel through Borneos ancient headhunter trails,
remote rivers and tropical seas. The race takes approximately 7-12
days and race disciplines include jungle trekking, sailing in outrigger
canoes, jungle river paddling, scuba diving, mountain biking and
caving.
"The four keys to winning any extreme sport are a strong mental
attitude, working as a team rather than as an individual, keeping
hydrated and having a great footcare regime," said Cathy Sassin,
member of the top American team in last years Eco-Challenge
and one of the worlds premier adventure athletes. "After
every race my team and I were generally the only ones without bloody,
blistered feet and everyone wanted to know our secret. The
secret was to wear SealSkinz Waterproof Socks. The words
out now everyone knows they cant afford not to wear them for
this race, which explains why so many teams choose SealSkinz."
The teams sporting SealSkinz® state-of-the-art waterproof
socks include Team oobe, featuring Rebecca Rusch whose team was
recently profiled in a NBC "Dateline" segment on the recent
Raid Gauloises Trans-Himalaya 2000 race in which they placed seventh
overall, the highest finish for an all-American team in the historic
race.
Other teams wearing SealSkinz® include: Team Outrageous Adventure,
Team Sea Magazine (aka Team Dacor), Team Friction Free, Team Hong
Kong and Team Goonies.
Also, the camera crew of the popular CBS television newsmagazine
program "48 Hours" is also relying on SealSkinz to keep
them comfortable during the shooting of a documentary focusing on
the incredible physical and mental challenges faced by these teams.
"As adventure racing has exploded in popularity and given
birth to all sorts of other extreme sports, its become increasingly
clear to the us athletes that nothing compares to the performance,
comfort and protection you get out of SealSkinz. It is truly the
best tool in any foot care regime," Sassin added.
Perfect for rafting, hunting, hiking, fishing, skiing, snowboarding,
boating or just about any activity where hands and feet need to
stay dry, SealSkinz® waterproof products first entered the outdoor
market in 1993 with the release of the original SealSkinz®

even when the sock is fully immersed in water.
"SealSkinz® already enjoys a dominant position in waterproof

Danalcos position as the technology leader in waterproof gear
that is durable, comfortable and breathable. There is nothing like
them on the market today."

SEALSKINZ® SIGNS ON AS SPONSOR OF MISSION AMERICA
SAILING CAMPAIGN
SealSkinz® Waterproof Gear To Sail Around World
With American Brad Van Liew
September
1, 1999 Danalco,
the manufacturer of SealSkinz® Waterproof socks and gloves,
today announced its commitment to sponsor the Mission America sailing
campaign, led by 1998-99 Around Alone race veteran Brad Van Liew,
as it readies itself for another attempt to circumnavigate the globe.
"Keeping as warm and dry as possible helps Brad compete more
effectively," said Meaghan Van Liew, the campaigns manager.
"Offshore ocean racing places its competitors in a wet environment
filled with below zero temperatures and intense winds. The addition
of SealSkinz® will help Van Liew to concentrate less on the
physical environment and more on the challenges associated with
this type of sailing."
Mission America is a campaign to raise approximately $4 million
in a bid to win the worlds most competitive ocean races including
Around Alone 2002-03, a grueling single-handed yacht race spanning
over 27,000 miles around the world. SealSkinz® will provide
high-quality, waterproof socks and gloves to Van Liew and his crew
throughout the campaign, including the initial races as warm-up
for the Around Alone race.
"In addition to the unpredictable weather, Brad faces health
risks such as dehydration, muscle fatigue, navigational obstacles,
and the mental challenges accompanying solitude for a prolonged
period of time," added Van Liew.
"The agreement to sponsor Mission America and Brad Van Liew
represents SealSkinz® continued efforts to provide the worlds
top adventure athletes with the best waterproof protection available,"
Said Cole Williams, Danalco president and founder. "We clearly
believe in supporting the kind of athletes that demand the highest
challenges for themselves and their gear."
Around Alone is the longest individual race of any sport. Its participants
sail isolated oceans, far away from any search-and-rescue facilities,
in solitude for more than 150 days. Van Liew finished the 1998-1999
Around Alone challenge in third place despite a dismast leaving
him with no mast, boom, rigging or sails. He plans to compete in
three crewed races before the next Around Alone, set for September
2002.
As part of the sponsorship agreement, Van Liew and his campaign
crew will provide SealSkinz® with feedback on performance and
other improvements they might need in the products to achieve maximum
success. These "field tests" are an integral part of the
research and development cycles at SealSkinz® to continually
improve the product for consumers.
"If SealSkinz® can hold up their waterproof durability
and performance in crashing waves and extreme seas, then they will
more than meet the needs of the recreational sailor or dedicated
fisherman," Williams said.
SealSkinz® patented design features a Moisture Vapor Transpiration
(MVT) membrane. This unique construction ensures complete dryness
as perspiration escapes through the membrane while water is prevented
from entering. Their stretch-to-fit, seamless design helps to forestall
blisters and chafing even after hours of the harshest activities.
Founded in 1970 in Duarte, California, Danalco designs and manufactures
high-performance, waterproof clothing for the outdoor, military,
and athletic markets. For sales information on SealSkinz® products,

SEALSKINZ® WATERPROOF SOCKS AND GLOVES UNVEIL
NEW LOGO AND BRAND IMAGE
New Design Powerfully Represents Performance of
Products
July
28, 1999
SealSkinz® waterproof socks and gloves today unveiled
its new brand identity and product image to coincide with SealSkinz®
transition back to California-based Danalco, the products
original developer and manufacturer, and more accurately reflect
the inherent values and features of the products.
"When youre dealing with athletes, outdoorsmen and other
customers serious about top quality gear, you have to provide the
best and we needed a fresh image and icon that powerfully represents
those qualities our customers have come to expect from SealSkinz®,"
said Cole Williams, president and founder of Danalco. "We believe
this new image appropriately represents the strength and high performance
of our product and more closely aligns it with the benefits our
dedicated users have relied on for years."
The new logo, which will be featured on all product packages, collateral
materials and SealSkinz® gloves and socks themselves, sports
a sleek black seal powerfully propelling itself upwards through
a "watertight" blue triangle. The image demonstrates to
consumers SealSkinz® unequalled aquatic properties and performance
and more closely aligns itself with the qualities of its mammalian
namesake.
The logo was designed by Camarillo-based Pí Design, which
has extensive experience in consumer product and graphic identity
development and design.
"High performance is crucial to Danalco so its essential
to communicate the superior waterproof ability of every SealSkinz®
product. The seal in the blue triangle represents the name as well

U.S. PEACEKEEPING TROOPS IN BOSNIA TO RECEIVE
SealSkinz® WATERPROOF SOCKS
World-Recognized High-Performance Gear to Provide
Extra Protection to
American Soldiers Fighting Extreme Conditions
June
28, 1999
Recognizing the demand from American soldiers serving in
the Balkans for effective waterproof footgear, Danalco today donated
500 pairs of its SealSkinz® Waterproof MVTÒ
(Moisture Vapor Transpiration) socks to U.S. troops on peacekeeping
duty in Bosnia in an effort to help military personnel battle the
grueling conditions they are facing.
"Recently, weve been getting more and more requests
from U.S. service personnel for our waterproof socks during their
service in the Balkans so we decided to make this donation in recognition
of their dedication and service in keeping the peace," said
Cole Williams, president of Danalco.
Danalco had contacted U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinsteins (D-CA)
office to secure assistance in making the donation through the U.S.
Defense Logistics Agency in response to requests for SealSkinz®
that came from family members of U.S. service personnel serving
in the Balkans.
(DLA) defense distribution depot in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. From
there, the DLA will ship the socks aboard U.S. military cargo aircraft
to the Balkans for distribution to U.S. service personnel on an
as-needed basis.
"SealSkinz® are already used around the world by military
personnel who need the comfort, dryness and performance it offers.
We felt it was the right thing to do for our soldiers. They deserve
the best from us at home so were sending them our best,"
Williams added.
"Conditions in the Balkans can be difficult at times because
of the lack of proper infrastructure and heavy rainfalls. Even though
we provide our personnel with the best equipment available, this
donation is gladly accepted not only because of the performance
of the product, but also the signal it sends to our personnel that
they remain foremost in the hearts and minds of the folks back home,"
said Jackie Noble, Defense Distribution Centers Public Affairs
Officer.
Recently, the Defense Logistics Agency has also been responsible
for disseminating daily rations exceeding 500,000 meals as well
as tents for the troops in Kosovo.
Since their introduction to the market in 1993, military forces
worldwide have recognized SealSkinz® high quality and are currently
worn by such elite forces as the U.S. Navy Seals and the British
Royal Marines.
