Team Adventure

On December 31st, when Team Adventure began "The Race," a brutal, no rules, no assistance, non-stop race around the world, you can be sure they packed plenty of SealSkinz for the entire crew. "The Race" began in Barcelona, Spain and will end over two months later in Marseilles, France. Dubbed "The Dream Team" by the European media, Team Adventure is led by world-class sailor Cam Lewis and crewed by 13 of the world's most elite sailors coming from the United States, France and South Africa.

Team Adventure "Particularly in the southern oceans where it's continuously cold, wet and windy, crew comfort is secondary to crew survival. Having gear like SealSkinz on board to keep crew members warmer and dry not only makes for a happy crew but a more competitive one in an incredibly harsh environment. It doesn't get more important than that out there," said Cam Lewis Team Adventure captain.

Team Adventure features a catamaran in their entry. "The Race" is the first-ever no limits, no rules non-stop, no-assistance around the world sailing competition. The journey is expected to take 60-70 days. "The Race" will also be the first to feature a live webcast utilizing a communications platform enabling live audio and video transmissions via the French Telecom Satellite Network.

"SealSkinz are going to make a big difference for us in 'The Race'" said Lewis. "The waterproof protection and the breathe-ability are an unbeatable combination, the gripper dots are a big help in holding on to the ropes, and the dexterity of the gloves allows me to tie knots with the gloves on. That makes a big difference when you're sailing around the world in the middle of winter. I couldn't be happier to have SealSkinz on board."

"The Race" is unique because it allows crews to explore the outer limits of ocean sailing while live webcasting teaches schoolchildren about marine environments, web-based technology, teamwork and survival.
